“Father, I place my life in Your hands!”

The Bible is the perfect place to turn when you are going through rough times. “Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken” (Psalm 55:22). These are true promises, with the seeds of inner peace hidden in them. But it’s easy to misread these passages to mean that God is a magic problem-solver, a genie whose main job is to make us happy today. It’s easy to assume that casting our troubles on God means He will take our troubles away. Sometimes, though, He doesn’t. The phrase “Let go and let God” is popular and loved because it sounds so simple. But there are times when we aren’t clear what it is we’re supposed to let go of. And there are other times we want to let go, we try to let go—and it just doesn’t happen. Why? Sometimes there’s a difference in what we want to give up and what we need to release. We might be holding tightly to something we think of as good, like better health for a loved one or changed behavior in a wayward ch...

Let Go, And Know

Every day, we have to decide who’s going to be in control of our respective lives— us or God. That choice is a battle. There are things in your life that you want to control. You want to make your own rules. But real stress relief always starts with letting God be God. It always starts with saying, “God, I’m giving up control, because You can control the things that are out of control in my life.”  I don’t know what you’re going to face this weekend or next week. And guess what? You don’t either. But I can tell you what God wants you to do: Let go, and know. Let go of control, and know that God is in control. That’s what I mean by “Let go, and know!” This is the first step to serenity in our lives.  Whenever we face out-of-control situations, we tend to go to one of two extremes. For some of us, the more out-of-control our life gets, the harder we try to control it. And some of us do the exact opposite: We just give up! We have a pity party and send out an invite to ourselves ...

A prayer of gratitude

Let us pray. Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior - Thank you for the blessings You have bestowed on our lives. You have provided us with more than we could ever have imagined, even if we can not and do not realize it. You have surrounded us with people who always look out for us. You have given us families and friends who bless us every day with kind words and actions. They lift us up in ways that keep our eyes focused on You and make our spirits soar closer to You. Also, thank you, Lord, for keeping your sons safe. You protect us from those things that seem to haunt others. You help us make better choices, and You have provide us with advisers that help us with the difficult decisions in our lives. You speak to us in so many ways so that we always know so long as we listen for Your voice that You are here. And Lord, we are so grateful for Your blessings and keeping those around each of us safe and loved. We hope that You provide each of you sons praying with the ability and ...

A Prayer for Thanksgiving

"Dear God, Thank you for your amazing power and work in our lives, thank you for your goodness and for your blessings over us. Thank you for your great love and care. Thank you for your sacrifice so that we might have freedom and life. Forgive us for when we don't thank you enough, for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you've given. John 10:9-10 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.   They will come in and go out, and find pasture.   The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,  and have it to the full.

A Prayer for Godly Attitude

A PRAYER FOR MAN'S PEACE

Let us pray - Lord and Savior, sometimes a man's insides feel like a battle zone, where missiles are falling too close to home. Other times we are caught in an endless storm, with thoughts flying out of control. Confusion reigns, and defeat creeps in to steal our joy. A man needs peace—the deep-down-in-your-heart kind that stays with us day and night. Calm our anxious surroundings, Lord; all the attacking "if-onlys" and "what-ifs" and "what abouts" and "did you dos" and "why this and why thats," make them stop filling us with needless worry. We know that trust is a big part of experiencing Your kind of peace and that fear has no place in our lives. Most of the things we worry about or dread don't even happen. So right now we are declaring our trust in you. We release the reins of my life again and ask you to take control Lord. We may need to pray this same prayer daily, but we recognize that we are tired of the frenzy of life ...

A Prayer for Fathers and Children

Let us pray. O God the Father of mankind, who has given us our children, and committed them to our charge to bring them up for You Father, and to prepare them for eternal life: help us with Your heavenly grace, that each man here may be able to fulfil this most sacred duty and stewardship. Teach us both what to give and what to withhold; when to reprove and when to forbear; make us to be gentle, yet firm; considerate and watchful; and deliver us equally from the weakness of indulgence, and the excess of severity; and grant that, both by word and example, we may be careful to lead them in the ways of wisdom and true piety, so that at last I may, with them, be admitted to the unspeakable joys of our true home in heaven, in the company of the blessed Angels and Saints. Father, we commend our children to Your care in my charge. Be their God and Father; and mercifully supply whatever is lacking in us through frailty or negligence. Strengthen them to overcome the corruptions and darkness...
