Self-Righteousness

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
--- Romans 10:10

So much to unpack here. Tower of babble time. I have been meditating, reading, glancing at, and absorbing this passage all weekend long. Here’ what God is telling me.

We are living in a contested space where being a Christian is not easy. Being spiritual is acceptable however we are not called to only believe we are called to make disciples.

The #1 enemy of Christ is not Sin, it’s our own self-righteousness. Doing it our way. You’ve heard me say it before, “You wanna make God laugh and laugh hard? Tell Him what your plans are.”

We must submit ourselves to the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

We must see with our hearts that Jesus saves, and we must profess and confess this belief with our voice for all to hear that Jesus Christ is King.

Have you ever noticed that some people are more comfortable talking about evil spirits than they are having a conversation about the Holy Spirit? Why is this? I’d bet it’s because they see evil every day, darn near every hour. It is their normal. Rarely do Christians like us share with them our faith in Jesus. That is unless they tell us first that they are Christian. Then suddenly it’s okay.

We have a prayer list, heck we have two of them – very extensive. Our pray lists have changed the lenses of our eyes allowing us to see with a new perspective and understand the world as it is. The world is in dire need of Savior Christ and we are called to action. Dig deep fellas you know this is true. Listen to your heart. As the scripture reads, we are justified to use our mouths to save not only ourselves but also all that cross our paths.

How many times in your life has someone told you something and it was not until months or years later you remembered that conversation and finally acted upon it? Similar to those talks, sharing our faith in Christ with everyone at every opportunity will not return instant gratification or results, however, it may just save them from Hell down the road!

The next time someone asks you what you do for a living I dare you, I double dare you to respond, “I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. How ‘bout you, what do you do?”

Let us pray –

Heavenly Father with my heart I believe, and with my mouth, I confess the truth. I am justified and live by Faith. I pray that all that hear my voice hear Your Word and are saved. In your Holy presence and by the power of Jesus Christ and the great redeeming grace of the Holy Spirit we pray.

Amen. Amen. Amen.
