Words
Just about everyone we meet is dealing with something that may not be obvious from the outside, but they are facing a battle on the inside. Everyone that we come across is facing some sort of battle in their life. We must recognize what God can do with a single word of encouragement. We must also recognize how God uses us to offer someone hope to build their faith.
There is SO MUCH negativity in the world today. I cannot view my social media feed without seeing discouragement, can’t read a news app without being inundated with depressive information, can’t talk to people without all the heartbreaking news in the world infiltrating and eradicating my attempt at sharing a moment of positive light.
In this polarized world, it has long been time for people that hear and read this message to fight back and dispel the undeniable hate and discontent in the world with our words of hope and encouragement. The words we speak are filled with POWER. Our words can build up or they can crush. Our tongues have the power of life and death. I pray that my words build your faith, your family, your finances; strengthen your confidence so that you realize that the choice is yours to have strong faith. You know if it were up to me… I would always encourage you, and build up your faith because everyone, you see, is facing a battle that you don’t know anything about.
Scripture tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. That makes total sense because if you look back over your life, I guarantee you that everyone has at least one instant in our life where we have seen the power of the tongue produce death. Do you hear me?
The tongue has produced death to relationships, to jobs; heck, how many people do you know that have been fired because of their mouth? How many marriages have been destroyed because of the tongue?
So, let’s plan today to use our words to benefit us and our fellow sisters and brothers. Let us use our words to make the world around us better, our relationships better, bring life to our marriages, life to our families, life to our careers, to our minds, and to all we touch.
The words we speak should edify, build up, embrace, forgive, love, and heal. Our words are full of power. Weld them with wisdom. They can heal the world. They can minister death, and they can minister life. They can encourage, they can discourage, they can build up and they can tear down. Words are containers for power, and we need to choose our words very carefully. It is time for us to step up to the plate and be accountable for the words that we allow to come out of our mouths. No person contains the tongue, we need help. So meditate each day for help with your mouth.
Here is a fitting comparison that demonstrates clearly the power of words. Holy Scripture. In the Book of Genesis, the first two verses, the Bible tells us that the earth was formless, empty, void, and with darkness over the deep. Nothing. In verse 3, here is what we read, “And God Said (some translations – God spoke…). God speaks into the nothingness, the darkness, and says, “Let there be light" and there was. So at the very beginning of time, God creates the universe; how does God do it? What tool does he use? He uses spoken words that speak the universe into existence. God says and it is. God uses words to bring about light, to build up, to create; from the beginning, the power of words are the tools that God uses to create, build, and bless. The enemy speaks to tempt, accuse, deceive, and destroy. It’s hardwired into the universe the power of words. Ask yourself, am I speaking life, or am I speaking death into the world around me.
Anytime I use my mouth to tear someone down, guess who is in control of my tongue at that minute? Hell. Anytime I use my mouth to do anything other than bring glory to God, I have loaned my tongue to evil. Evil has control of it. Why loan our tongue to evil and then later say, okay God, here, your turn to use it. We cannot praise God with our mouth and also curse our sisters and brothers that have been created in the likeness of God. Do we ever have a right to curse anyone that was made in the image of God? I don’t want God seeing me cursing someone he loves. It’s all about love. I beg you not to curse anyone that God wants to be saved.
Stop opening the door for the enemy by complaining about people, places, and things. Instead give thanks for positive people, places, and the things that you have in your life. Use your tongue with wisdom. Stop talking about what the enemy is doing and speak of the glory that God is revealing to us. Don’t talk fear, talk faith. Words are powerful! They are containers of power. They carry faith and release Angels to help anyone in need.
Speak and believe the Word of God and then sit back and watch what the King of kings and Prince of peace does.
Let us pray -
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You that You have given me power in Your Name to overcome any hardship and to increase in every area of my life through the simple act of speaking the right words—words that line up with Your Word.
Lord, I believe that my words are containers that carry my faith and accomplish in the natural realm everything You have promised. I ask You to help me be mindful of each and every word I speak. Father, help me to eliminate all idle words in my life and only speak those things that I desire to come to pass.
Father, when the temptation comes to speak against Your Word, I pray that You will help me put a guard over my mouth and stop before any wrong word is spoken. I ask You to give me wisdom and insight into which words You would have me speak, and then fill me with the boldness to speak those words continually and without any doubt.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Scripture -
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
-Proverbs 12:18
