THE INVITE

“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone…?" Job 38:4-6

The Creator, God, is speaking to a frustrated man named Job, pronounced Jobe, in this passage. Job was a good man, but he was experiencing some agonizing times and dared to question the sovereignty of the Lord. God is reminding Job of just Who is in charge. It's hardcore. Sometimes in our finite human minds, we may do the same thing, but when we step back from things, we should realize the God of the Universe is so much bigger than our understanding or even our thinking. At its core, this is a meditation on humility.

Man wants to “know.”

God made us so perfect. Scientists try to explain away creation but doing so creates more questions than answers. Many skeptics gravitate to the Big Bang Theory of creation; I wonder how they would respond if they were confronted by God as Job was? Hmmm... perhaps there is a sci-fi script. I digress...

It boggles one’s mind to think about the complexity and intricacies of life. Life is so precious and personal. But to think that just happened? Scriptures speak of the mysteries of God which require us to have faith in that which we cannot always see or understand. That is what faith is. For me, I believe by faith God sent His only Son to earth with a purpose to teach and disciple people in the ways of the Lord, but to more importantly become an atoning sacrifice on my behalf through His own innocent shed blood. That is the only way I could be saved from the destiny of eternal separation from the Creator God, because I can never be perfect no matter how hard I try or how intelligent I may be. It is by faith I believe that; it is by faith I accept this free gift of salvation, as I genuinely acknowledge my shortcomings before the Lord. I don’t have to understand; I don;y have to be perfect or sinless. I just have to believe.

What about you? Are you still trying to make heads or tails of life? Here’s a tip … you’ll never figure it out on your own. It is far too wonderful and immense for you to grasp or comprehend. Yet, in spite of the vastness of the Lord’s reach and power, He desires to have a personal relationship with YOU. And that relationship is not based on deed or action, but on a simple and sincere expression of, “Lord, I believe in Who You are” and invite Him into your life. Remember, this is the Creator of the Universe that is waiting for your invitation! Think about it, regardless of the present complement of the guests at the party known as your life, the Creator of the Universe is one friend to brag about and have at your party called life. Amen?

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, I pray that You are at the top of all my invite lists. You created everything and are my sole protector in times of good and evil. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit I know that all successes are the result of Your Victories. In your Son's name we pray, Amen Jesus! Amen. Amen.
