Prayer for Persistence

Spiritual development is achieved by daily persistence in living the way God wants you to live. Like the wearing away of a stone by steady drops of water, so will your daily persistence wear away all the difficulties and gain spiritual success for you. Never falter in this daily, steady persistence. Go forward boldly and unafraid. God will help and strengthen you, as long as you are trying to do His will.

Let us pray -

Lord our Savior - It's crazy, absolutely crazy here. The ability to stay focused on Your will for us is hindered by the craziness of this broken world that surrounds us. We beg you to clear our minds and help us to remain ever focused on your goodness for us and our families. To love our wifes, our children and our loved ones as you so love us. Lord, you see it all. All the pain, all the hate, and all the confusion. Yet your love for all creation reigns supreme and uninterrupted. We ask You to help us see through the smoke of distractions, through the haze of brokenness, and through the barriors that block us from Your love. Make our vision crystal clear, our thoughts sinless, and our souls ever full of your Holy Spirit. We ask this blessing in your most holy name. Amen Jesus! Amen. Amen.

The number three is a powerful and often used number in scripture. When one goes looking for “threes” you can most certainly find them in Christianity. Noah had three sons (Gen. 6:10). Three visitors appeared to Abraham (Genesis 18:2). Jonah was inside the belly of the fish three days and nights (Jonah 1:17). Jesus answered Satan’s threefold temptations with three scriptural references (Matthew 4:1-11). Jesus’ ministry lasted three years. Peter denied Jesus three times (Luke 22:54-62), and three times Jesus affirmed his love (John 21:15-17). Samuel L. Jackson is Jules Winnfield, a mobster in a tight spot. Jules and his partner Vincent Vega (John Travolta), have just pulled into the home of Jimmie (played by Tarantino himself) with a dead body in the car which they have to dispose of pronto. Under pressure from Jimmie to get out of there as fast as possible, Jules calls his mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) to apprise him of the situation and plead for backup.
