A Prayer for Serving Together
Let us pray.
Father of all creation,
Allow each man here this morning to serve others with a joyful heart;
Never keeping score;
Always giving;
and Never expecting to receive.
Allow us to give of ourselves,
To give of our collective talents and of our collective goods,
To give of our time and of our energy,
To give of our hearts and of our very souls.
Help us to understand the needs of others,
Never criticizing,
Never demeaning,
Never scolding,
Never condemning.
Help us always reflect upon how You have been so gracious to us,
Always Loving,
Always forgiving,
Always restoring;
Never gloating over our defeats,
Even when we have been so wrong so often.
Father, keep a condemning spirit
far from our hearts and further from our lips.
Allow these men to serve others as You serve and love us,
With gentleness, compassion, and tenderness,
Never diminishing the worth of another,
Choosing to extend mercy to the broken, brokenhearted, and broken-spirited.
Like You have repeatedly shown to each of us, let us reflect your light to the darkened world.
Father in Heaven you sent your Son to serve and light the world. You sent Him to give his life for us! Let Your spirit awaken in us, the same spirit of service that awoke Christ from death. Let these men never look for position or gain, but instead, show us how to let others succeed as a result of our servitude and grace. Make us meek. Make us humble. Make us more real than real is known. So that we are able to give back what has so freely and unconditionally been given to us.
We pray this prayer in love and with the love of our eternal savior and king of kings Jesus Christ.
Amen! Amen! Amen!
