Christ Men Know the Meaning of Christmas
Almighty God,
You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. You hold all authority in heaven and earth.
As we approach your throne of grace, we seek to give you the respect you deserve.
We come before you acknowledging the areas of responsibility you have put in our lives. You have ordained that we be the leaders in our homes, in our churches, and in our workplaces.
We ask you to raise us up to be the best leaders we can be this day.
We bow our heads, and we bow our wills to you today.
By faith, we believe that you are bringing us the wisdom and guidance that we need this day. We declare that we will cooperate with you as you bring our minds, w ill, and emotions into agreement with your plans and purposes.
Today, the day of joy returns and crowns another year with peace and goodwill.Help us rightly to remember the birth of Jesus that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds and the worship of the wise men.
Close the doors of hate and open the doors of love all over the world and let kindness come with every gift and good desires, and with every greeting.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children; And the Christmas evening brings us to our bed with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing that Christ brings and teaches us to be merry with clean hearts in His name.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
SCRIPTURES
Luke 2:16-20
As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us.” They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed. Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they’d been told!
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
