A Prayer for Riches
Sometimes it’s hard to trust God especially when we don’t see any change in our circumstances. We exercise our faith mostly when we go through trials that force us to rely on God. Employment and financial challenges can be some of the most faith-building seasons in our life because God has an opportunity to reveal Himself as a provider, promise-keeper, and Father.
Just think about the story of Job. He was wealthy, led a holy lifestyle, and walked in righteousness…the Bible says he was blameless before God. When God allowed the enemy to touch his circumstances pulling his wealth, family and even his health, Job maintained his position before God. When we go through trials or witness another family member or friend face the weight on his or hers soul there is typically a holier level of living that God desires for all of us to reach. The process may not always be fun but it will be worth it.
As we patiently wait on the Lord to turnaround ours or others financial situations, it’s important to cultivate an active prayer life. We must pray for God's will for us and others. We must continue to open up to our closest brother and share our struggles, pains, and sins. Doing this helps us continue to keep a dialogue going with God regarding His purpose and plan for your life.
We should never bury ourselves in depression, you know, the pity pot, where we lash out at those closest to us, our friends, or families, or worse our beloved wives, and we should never ever resign our identities to an employment position. Our whoness always supersedes our whatness. Let your identity, your whoness, rest in the Almighty God. The challenge is always this, when asked what you do for a living (your whatness), say I am a child of God and a father that cares for and loves my family deeply. This is my life this is who I am! Fellas this is your true whoness - you are a child of the Father in Heaven who loves you so very much. Why not let everyone know you are rich in the Lord! Try it.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you with a heart full of thanksgiving recognizing that every good gift and every perfect present comes from You. Lord, we your men of the morning prayers line thank You for all that You’ve done and all that You’re going to do for us and everyone on our prayer list. Father, we ask that You place Your hand on our finances. Father, Your word says that You have given us the ability to generate wealth. Therefore, Lord we trust in Your ability to prosper us in this time. Father grab hold of our lives and teach us to prosper in this season. Holy Spirit bless the fruit of our hands, hearts, and minds that we may also be able to help others find opportunities to prosper abundantly in this season Christmas. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen. Amen. Amen.
