A Prayer for Marriage
Let us pray.
God our Father - Our primary purpose in our marriages is not to receive, but rather to be Your agent of blessing to our wives. We are your working hand blessing our brides with every touch of our hand; Your hand at work Lord. As we submit to you Lord, so to we submit to our wives lifting them up to you and giving thanks for her. We pray that our wives accept Your will for them and submit to us, their husbands, lifting us up to our Savior and obeying everything we ask of them in the name of the Lord.
Jesus, the men here want to be filled with Your courage and strength. We want to live by every word that comes from Your mouth and speak boldly about what You can and will do.
Any threats against our marriage are wimpy compared to Your great power.
In the Bible Joshua put his godless enemies to death. He listened to Your voice and obeyed You.
You gave him authority to accomplish Your will. He lifted Your Glory up and commanded the sun to stand still, and You made it happen for the glory of Your name and the protection of Your people.
Teach us, Lord, to exercise the authority You have given us. Train us to hear Your voice and respond without hesitation.
Make us brave men. Use us to war against the enemies of our marriage in prayer using the Sword of Your Spirit.
We believe You are able, Lord. As you have promised so let us know and be witness to the truth of your power in our marriages and our lives as your men of faith in Christ.
With fullness of faith in Jesus’ blood and righteousness, we pray.
Amen! Amen! Amen!
SCRIPTURE
EPHESIANS 5:20-26
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
