A Prayer for Commitment

Dear Heavenly Father,

 You are Lord and God.  We know from Your Word that a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart is a sacrifice, O God, that You will not despise.

 We come before you now to offer ourselves to you Lord God – all of us – each body, each mind and each soul.  All we have, all we are, are Yours and Yours alone.

 We confess Lord, that we are sinners and we humbly ask for Your forgiveness for all the sins we have committed.

 We repent of our sins Lord, and with your help, we choose to turn away from them as we proceed in the opposite direction, turning to You alone.

 In the name of Jesus, we also choose to forgive all those who have ever wronged us or who have ever spoken slanderous words against us.  We bless each one of them in the name of Jesus and pray that the love and peace of Jesus will fall heavily upon them now.

 Lord God, we freely and most willingly submit our wills before you now, and ask that from now on, You and only You, will lead each of us.

 We also submit our bodies to You as a living sacrifice; for Your use and the use of Your Kingdom.  Lord, let us no longer be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds such that we may be a sacrifice to Your good and acceptable and perfect will.

 Search us now O God, and know our hearts.  Test us and try us Lord and know our thoughts; see if there is any wickedness in us. If you find any - root it out Father. Lead us O Lord, in your everlasting ways.

 Break us and remould us Lord; reshape us Lord into the image which you desire of men.

 Stretch us Lord, and expand us into the new areas of life which you have destined for us.

 Lead us Lord, onto and along that narrow path which You have chosen for us, so that our destiny may be fulfilled exactly as You have planned since before we were in our mother’s womb.

 Use us Lord, for the magnification of Your name and Your glory and for Your Kingdom, according to Your will.

 O Lord God, as we submit ourselves to you, we commit to doing everything we do, to saying everything we say, and to choosing everything we choose, for the sake of Your Kingdom and not mine.

 Father, we pray this in the mighty name of Your son, Lord Jesus Christ, our Lord and my Saviour. 

 Amen. Amen. Amen.

"I am going the way of all the earth Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man. "Keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn, so that the LORD may carry out His promise which He spoke concerning me, saying, 'If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.'

The number three is a powerful and often used number in scripture. When one goes looking for “threes” you can most certainly find them in Christianity. Noah had three sons (Gen. 6:10). Three visitors appeared to Abraham (Genesis 18:2). Jonah was inside the belly of the fish three days and nights (Jonah 1:17). Jesus answered Satan’s threefold temptations with three scriptural references (Matthew 4:1-11). Jesus’ ministry lasted three years. Peter denied Jesus three times (Luke 22:54-62), and three times Jesus affirmed his love (John 21:15-17). Samuel L. Jackson is Jules Winnfield, a mobster in a tight spot. Jules and his partner Vincent Vega (John Travolta), have just pulled into the home of Jimmie (played by Tarantino himself) with a dead body in the car which they have to dispose of pronto. Under pressure from Jimmie to get out of there as fast as possible, Jules calls his mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) to apprise him of the situation and plead for backup. Wallace reassures him he'll be sending "the posse" in the form of "The Wolf" to help.
